Like Piracy, Identity Theft is a Crime
There are some days when I think I should stop wasting my time creating my original content and devote myself to being a vocal appreciator. The absolute most fun is when you’re reading something written in a strong voice and can get in on the fun. If you don’t know what I’m talking about check this Friends of the Family thread* or try writing Bike Snob an e-mail after reading a post. Maybe I could be the man of a thousand blog personalities. It would be way easier than developing my own voice, that’s for sure. Today Sean Bonner posted about piracy hitting his recently released free e-book Hi Hollywood (Sneak Attack Press) and the comments section “lit up” and I spent most of my day refreshing between cover letters.
Caution: This behavior can be dangerous. Do not attempt to write in a professional setting for a minimum of one hour after enjoying.
Don’t believe me? You could end up writing something like this in an application
On working as a front desk clerk:
“I would like to begin simply by saying that I am healthy and active and have worked at multiple retail stores that required me to stand for the entire work day…”
On working with hard to satisfy individuals:
“My bookseller position once required me to spend close to twenty minutes trying to help a man find a book he claimed to have enjoyed in a previous life but forgotten the title of.”
I would like to award Ki recognition for what I believe to be the funniest comment.
*The instigating post was a review written from the perspective of someone who saw My Bloody Valentine but thought they were seeing My Chemical Romance. The post was picked up by an MCR fan-site and took off.
